Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM)
Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) is a technology widely used in fiber-optic communications to increase bandwidth over existing fiber networks. It works by combining multiple optical carrier signals onto a single optical fiber by using different wavelengths (i.e., colors) of laser light to carry different signals. This allows for a multiplication of capacity, as well as the ability to transmit multiple communication streams simultaneously over a single optical fiber.
