Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) 

An extension of HTTP that is used for secure communication over a computer network, widely used on the Internet. In HTTPS, the communication protocol is encrypted using Transport Layer Security (TLS) or, formerly, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).
